Travelling? Stay Healthy While You Do It

Staying healthy and eating healthy on the road can sometimes be tricky. Just like you think ahead about what clothes to put in your suitcase ... think ahead about what foods you will eat while on the go.

Planning ahead and being prepared will ensure that you have something healthy and truly energizing to consume when you are delayed at the airport or stuck in your car.

Eating nutrient rich snacks and drinks while you travel will keep you balanced no matter what obstacles you come across and will keep jet-lag at bay. Now, who doesn't want more energy and less jet lag when on vacation?

Healthy Eating While Traveling will give you a complete list of what I took with me on our last journey across the sea.

Digestion Tip

Are you gassy and bloated after eating? If you had melons at your last meal, that could be why.

Because melons (of which watermelon is my favourite) are so high in water they need to be eaten on an empty stomach. If you eat a melon after you have already eaten other foods (even other fruits) the melon will ferment and break down in your stomach causing gas, bloating and digestive distress.

Eat melons first, on an empty stomach to benefit from all of its nutrients, to give your digestive tract a nice cleansing wash and to avoid any upset.

This watermelon juice is a perfect cooling drink on a hot summer day or anytime you want a refreshing beverage.

Simple Tip to Relax at Night

Time to sleep but having trouble relaxing?

Put a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow case. Lavender has a very calming effect on our central nervous system. Breathing in its scent will help you to relax and drift peacefully into dreamland.

If you don't want to put the oil directly onto your pillow case, drop some of the oil onto a handkerchief instead.

Not only for night time; use lavender essential oil during the day, while travelling .. or any time you crave some calm and balance.

When buying essential oils be sure to buy only good quality therapeutic grade oils - it is these properly obtained high quality oils that can cross the blood brain barrier and transfer their goodness to our bodies. Here is my recommended place to buy essential oils.
