Recommended Product of the Month - Ceramic Knives

Starting this month .. each month I will highlight a product (appliance, tool, book, documentary, movie, etc that we enjoy in our life and that I highly recommend.

This month's recommended products are a ceramic knife and ceramic peeler.

Ceramic Knife and Peeler

Using a ceramic knife is superior to a stainless steel knife because a ceramic knife will maintain the freshness of your produce. Steel will oxidize fresh produce and can leave behind a metallic taste where ceramic won't .

We have had our ceramic knives and peelers for years and we love them. They maintain their sharp edge and clean easily. When making our raw food creations or cutting things up for smoothies or green juices I like knowing that I am using a high quality knife that is not taking any of the goodness away from my gorgeous food.

Recipe and/or Tip of the Month - Face Scrub Recipe

Some pay hundreds of dollars for face scrubs and salon treatments - you can do this for pennies!

Gentle Exfoliating Face Scrub

This is great for both men and women and especially helpful for oily skin and acne breakouts.

Combine 1 tbsp baking soda with just enough honey to create a loose paste (add a couple drops of water if needed).

How simple is that??? No need to buy expensive (and usually toxic) products - you can make this at home with ingredients you probably already have. It costs pennies and is extremely healthy and completely non-toxic.

With your fingers gently apply the scrub to your face with a circular motion. Enjoy the massage you get from this. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry. If you like, splash on a toner of 1 cup cool water mixed with 1 tbsp lemon juice. And then apply coconut oil as a nice moisturizer, if needed.

Re-cycling Glass Jars

Whenever you receive anything in a glass jar, save and recycle that jar.

Slowly do away with all of the plastic containers in your home to reduce your exposure to the damaging properties of plastics. The chemicals in plastic will leach into any food or drink stored in them - never heat anything in a plastic container!

Things that you may often buy in glass jars include almond butter, olives, pickles, sauerkraut, some beverages, jams and jellies etc. When empty, wash out the jars and re-use them.

We use our jars to store nuts and seeds, dehydrated snacks, spices, drinking water, seaweed, tea, dried herbs and flowers.. just to name a few.

Those little glass jars that restaurants sometimes give you jelly in are great to re-use for homemade toothpastes, lip balm and lotions.

Other places you can acquire some great glass jars are at thrift shops, yard sales (last year we bought a whole bunch of mason jars for $1!), antique shops etc.

Below is a picture of what we keep our drinking water in at home. Each of these unique glass bottles was acquired from antique shops, yard sales and thrift shops.

The New Making-Healthy-Choices store

Finally, this month I want to introduce you to the all new Making-Healthy-Choices store.

Every item in this store has been carefully selected. All items are things that we use and enjoy in our own life. They are things that we highly recommend and that we hope will add greatness to your days just as they have to ours.

When you go to the store page you will find several categories of items that you can browse through (appliances and kitchen tools, other health equipment, food items, books, documentaries, etc.).

There are some items that I highly recommend that you won't find in our store and the reason for this is because the vendor that I am using either doesn't carry that product or they carried a lesser quality version of a product.

Quality is very important when it comes to your health and I will not compromise that. I will not put lower quality items in our store and have you buying those items just to make a sale in our store.

My Solution:

Since I still want you to know where you can locate everything I recommend, I have created 3 special links that will cover the products not in our store. You can find these links in the text just above the store.

These 3 links will take you to places where you can buy essential oils, herbs, cleansing/detox supplies, UK based raw foods and more.

Take some time to browse around at our store (and using the additional links) and enjoy shopping with awareness ... enjoy spending your money only on things that will greatly enhance your life and the lives of those around you.
